Are Marketing Businesses tackling the challenge of Online Marketing
October 17, 2009
In the current economic situation it is widely know that most companies are being forced to cut costs in order to stay in business. One of the first pots of money to be reduced is often the marketing budget as the impact of reducing it is less tangible than many of the others. The consequences are often only seen later in the future and to cash strapped organizations it is repeatedly the easiest choice to make.
Only the most cost effective marketing can therefore be undertaken but are marketing businesses aware that the more cost effective method is Online Marketing? As web purchases continue to grow hugely in the vast majority of product areas this must surely be the best area for most to spotlight their attention, and any reduced marketing budget on.
However marketing professionals are not likely to be skilled in the new techniques of search engine optimization, frequently the most cost effective way to promote your company on line. They are more likely to be using expensive and sometimes less than productive “pay per click” services if they have even debated growing customers from their website at all.
One alternative they may consider at this stage is to consult with their web designer, an approach that may sound, initially, quite rational. However the web designer is as a rule very focused on the technical performance of the website itself and not used to taking into account the needs of a customer and how they may be brought to the site. Their skills lie in their coding not in customer behavior analysis. So other options for the Marketing Professionals are to either procure the SEO service from one of the SEO Company providers promoting themselves on the internet of course, or alternatively bring the skills into the company.
There are some very good search engine optimization training courses available now and the business should consider either placing one of it’s current employees through such a course or alternatively taking on a new member of staff who has equipped themselves with the skills in optimization via such a course.
Investment in training in this testing climate may not to begin with seem wise but taking into account the enormous benefits that can be achieved by good Search Engine Placement results at relatively low costs it may be that there is soon a large demand for people trained in this new skill. This in turn could open up new career opportunities for a lot of people who would not have believed the internet a suitable setting for their new job.
